Guy Combes Wildlife Artist

GUY COMBES was born in Kenya in 1971, the son of the late internationally-respected wildlife artist, Simon Combes. He was educated in England, where his studies included sculpture and design, and a major in art history. In 2001, Combes returned to Kenya where he quickly rekindled his love for Africa and her wildlife on a 48,000-acre ranch in the Rift Valley. The depth of his life experiences can be seen in his meticulous realism and dynamic compositions of wildlife. Combes’ relocation to the US in 2006 helped him to reach an American audience, and in 2011 he completed five years as Artist in Residence at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum in New Jersey.

Today, Combes is based in Arizona. His extraordinary painting continues to evolve, focusing on realistic depictions of the wildlife of the American West, including the Sonoran Desert. After 18 years in the US, he has attracted a considerable following for his art and conservation efforts. His work can be seen in galleries and museums across the United States and around the world
