Inspired by her travels, Barbara Gurwitz paints bright, colorful, expressive landscapes featuring villages set in valleys of the mountainous countryside. Her original paintings are in numerous private and public collections throughout the United States and abroad such as the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. and the Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, Arizona.
“In recent years my work has expanded to include more minimalist, abstract work. My interest in photography has also grown and has had some effect on a newer series of paintings.
Beginning in late 2016 her work has moved from abstracting landscapes to abstract/non-objective work which continues to be interested in shapes, colors, patterns.”
